A tragic collision on Highway 401 near Port Hope has left a community mourning after a driver was killed while standing outside a parked vehicle on the highway shoulder. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed that the incident remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal crash.
According to investigators, the driver had pulled over onto the shoulder of Highway 401 and exited the vehicle for reasons that have not yet been publicly disclosed. While the vehicle was stationary, a passing car struck both the parked vehicle and the individual standing nearby. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene.
